An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Mercedes-Benz Type 170V passenger car in the Cabrio Saloon version in 1:35 scale from MiniArt. Unlike the two-door cabriolet this is a four-door saloon body with a large folding fabric roof, so the car combines a closed body with a retractable canvas cover. According to the manufacturer the box contains, besides the plastic parts, a photo-etched fret and decals for several marking options.
The Mercedes-Benz Type 170V was among the most widespread German passenger cars of the late 1930s and early 1940s. The Cabrio Saloon form had a full four-door saloon body complemented by a large folding fabric roof, which combined the comfort of a closed car with the option of open-air driving. During the Second World War these cars served as staff and liaison vehicles.
With cars it pays to finish and paint the interior, the dashboard and the engine bay before you close the body. Use thin cement for plastic and bond the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush. Both the gray military and the civilian schemes are nicely brought to life by discreet weathering: fine washes emphasize the panel gaps and the roof frame, while dust pigments on the running gear and the fenders give the car authenticity.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
