This plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Meng captures the modern Chinese ZTQ15 light tank in the version with add-on armor. The kit offers a finely rendered gun barrel built from several parts, an accurate gun mantlet, one-piece tracks in a good material and clear parts for the lights and the vision blocks. Decals for period markings are included. The model combines current hardware with good buildability.
The ZTQ15 is a Chinese light tank developed for use in high mountain and wooded terrain. It reaches high speed even at high altitude. It carries a 105 mm gun able to fire several types of ammunition, backed by a remote controlled weapon station. Thanks to its modular protection, add-on armor can be fitted according to the intensity of the fighting.
Assemble the running gear before you close up the hull. The one-piece tracks speed up the build; once painted, they are best weathered with a wash and pigments. For a convincing look, an airbrush, mild panel accenting and light dust deposits on the lower areas all help. Fit the add-on armor parts carefully so that the gaps stay tight.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
