An injection-molded plastic kit of the Pz.Kpfw.IV medium tank in the Ausf. H version in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer MiniArt. The brief of the model is tightly drawn: it captures the production state of a vehicle from the output of the Nibelungenwerk plant in August 1943. For collectors of the Panzer IV that is a substantial distinguishing detail, because the individual plants and the monthly series differed in details.
The Pz.Kpfw.IV was a German medium tank of the Second World War, and the Ausf. H version was among the most numerously built. The vehicle carried a 75 mm gun with a long barrel, had thicker frontal armor and, on a number of series, Schürzen on the hull and turret as well. It was built by several plants at the same time, and details such as the design of the road wheels and idler wheels, the shape of the commander's cupola, the mounting of the Schürzen or the arrangement of the exhaust changed between series. That is exactly why models in this category state the particular plant and month of manufacture.
With kits of ground subjects it pays to finish the running gear first, and everything that becomes inaccessible once the hull is closed. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic, which is drawn into the seam by capillary action and leaves no excess. Apply a primer before painting, and only then the base shade and the camouflage scheme with an airbrush. Build the patina up in layers: a dark wash into the recesses and around the rivets, a dry brush on the edges, and at the end dust and mud pigments on the running gear and the lower hull. The tracks and road wheels are practical to paint separately and to fit at the end of the build.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
