A plastic kit in 1:35 scale conceived as two versions in one box: the late Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.J and the Pz.Beob.Wg.IV Ausf.J observation vehicle built on the same chassis.

The Ausf.J is the last production version of the German Panzer IV medium tank. It appeared at a time when production was being simplified wherever possible: the electric turret traverse and its auxiliary generator were deleted and the space freed up was given to an extra fuel tank, so the turret was traversed by hand. Late vehicles can also be recognized by their simplified running gear and wire mesh side skirts.
Besides the gun tank, the set also allows the Pz.Beob.Wg.IV observation vehicle to be built. It served artillery observers, who directed the fire of their own batteries from it, and compared with an ordinary tank it had additional observation and signals equipment. The pair of versions on the same chassis makes a rewarding comparison in a display case.
The tank's main armament was the 7.5 cm KwK 40 gun with a barrel 48 calibers long, so the number after the slash gives the barrel length, not the caliber. Before gluing, remove the excess material and production marks from the parts and dry-fit the assembly. It pays to spray the running gear and the tracks away from the model and to fit them only once painted. Wash and degrease the model before painting.
