An injection-molded plastic kit of the Romanian TACAM T-60 self-propelled anti-tank gun in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian maker MiniArt. This is the version marked as an interior kit, that is, with a well worked-out inside of the fighting compartment: the model can therefore be left with the superstructure open to show the work going on inside the vehicle. MiniArt is known for breaking its parts down finely and for rich detail, which brings with it greater demands on patience during the build.
The TACAM T-60 came about in Romania during the Second World War as an improvised but practical tank destroyer. The basis was a captured Soviet T-60 light tank, on whose chassis an open armored superstructure was built with a captured Soviet 76.2 mm gun. Romanian industry thus managed to turn an obsolete and weakly armed light tank into a weapon with real anti-tank effectiveness. Only a small number of vehicles were built and they were deployed on the Eastern Front. It is precisely the combination of captured equipment and home improvisation that makes this type one of the most interesting subjects among the smaller European armies of the day.
With an interior kit the order of work is essential: assemble, paint and weather the fighting compartment, the gun mounting and the ammunition stowage before you close the superstructure up, because once it is glued you cannot get inside. Paint the interior in a lighter shade so that the detail deep inside does not disappear, and bring it out with a dark wash and a dry brush. Separate the parts with nippers and glue the fine elements with thin cement metered out with a small brush. Assemble the running gear on a flat surface. Paint the outside over a primer with an airbrush and add dust and mud pigments to the running gear and the lower hull at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
