The 1:35 Russian Air Defense Weapon System 96K6 Pantsir-S1 is a plastic kit of the Russian air defense system on an eight-wheeled chassis from the maker Meng in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An extensive injection-molded plastic kit of a modern Russian antiaircraft system in 1:35 scale. The model captures the whole vehicle: the heavy off-road chassis with driven axles, the rotating turret with its radar equipment, the pair of gun armaments on the sides and the launch containers for the guided missiles. Meng is among the makers that build their models of modern equipment on exact shapes and a rich breakdown of parts.
The 96K6 Pantsir-S1 system is a short-range air defense system combining a pair of twin-barrel 30 mm cannon with antiaircraft guided missiles. It searches out and tracks targets with its own radars supplemented by an electro-optical channel, so it can operate on its own without the support of other systems. The task of the system is to cover units and fixed installations against airplanes, helicopters and small aerial targets.
Build the chassis axle by axle and keep checking whether all the wheels seat on a level plane, as with eight-wheeled vehicles a deviation is noticed at once. Leave the turret and the missile containers as a separate unit and paint them separately, as you will reach into the recesses more easily. Glue the plastic with thin cement into the joint and draw the joints of large surfaces together with rubber bands. After the base shade apply a gloss varnish under the decals, then a wash into the engraved lines and finally a matte varnish. Fine-tune the dust and the deposits on the underside of the vehicle with pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
