It is not a battle tank but a specialized engineer machine on a tank chassis whose task is to break lanes through minefields. At the front it carries the characteristic set of mine rollers and a plow (KMT), with which it sets off mines by pressure or digs them out. The kit offers movable running gear and tracks, opening hatches, clear parts for the vision devices and photo-etched parts.
The BMR-3M is a Russian heavy armored mine clearing (engineer) vehicle built on the chassis of a main battle tank and protected by Kontakt-1 reactive armor. Its task is to create safe lanes through minefields ahead of advancing mechanized units. The mine rollers and plow at the front serve that purpose and can set off or remove mines with pressure fuzes and with magnetic (influence) fuzes alike. The crew works under armor, so the vehicle moves at the head of an attack and clears the way for the others; it belongs to the category of roughly fifty-tonne machines.
The most demanding and the most striking part of the build is the front mine clearing set (the rollers and the plow) together with the running gear and its movable tracks, which are best assembled and painted before the hull is finished. Glue the blocks of Kontakt-1 reactive armor carefully and symmetrically. Work with liquid cement for plastic and an airbrush; the usual finish is Russian green. Bring out the detail with a wash and give the lower hull, the tracks and the mine rollers stronger pigments and mud effects, because the machine works in broken ground, so chipped metal and caked earth look natural.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
