The real subject

The BT-7 was a Soviet fast (wheel-cum-track) tank of the second half of the 1930s that followed the design line derived from the chassis of the American engineer Walter Christie. It was marked by high road speed, light armor and, in the model 1935 version, a turret with a 45 mm gun. It was deployed among other places in the fighting at Khalkhin Gol and in the opening phases of the war on the Eastern Front. A turned metal barrel replaces the split plastic part with no parting seams and with a faithful muzzle shape, which gives the model a realistic look.

Installation tips

• Cut off the plastic barrel according to the kit instructions and level the seating surface.
• Bond the metal part with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or two-part epoxy; cement for plastic does not hold on metal.
• Degrease the metal before painting and apply a primer, so that the paint holds well.
• Take care that the barrel is concentric with the turret; metal cannot easily be bent back.
