A detailed injection-molded plastic kit of the German Sd.Kfz. 7 half-track tractor in the 7/3 variant in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The model has a richly broken-down engine and chassis, individual link tracks and photo-etched parts for the fine details. It is a larger build suited to modelers who want to spend time on the running gear and the superstructure.
The Sd.Kfz. 7 was a German medium 8-ton half-track tractor (mittlerer Zugkraftwagen 8t) used above all as a prime mover for heavy guns - typically anti-aircraft and anti-tank guns of 8.8 cm caliber and other artillery. The combination of wheeled steering at the front and a tracked run at the rear gave it good cross-country ability while towing heavy loads. It served on all fronts throughout the war.
The running gear will take the most work - assemble and refine the wheels, the suspension and the individual track links before closing up and painting. A base coat of primer, an airbrush and masking of the camouflage all prove their worth. For the patina use washes in the recesses and pigments for dust and mud effects on the chassis and the tracks. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
