This standalone resin figure from the brand Royal Model captures a man at the moment of spraying paint from a pressurized can. The stance with an outstretched arm and the head turned slightly away is among the positions that bring movement into a static display case.
Markings sprayed on by hand have accompanied armies from the moment the pressurized paint can appeared. They are the names of vehicles, tactical signs touched up in the field, warnings on walls, messages for those who come after us and plain scribbles out of boredom. For diorama work such a motif is exceptionally rewarding, because it explains at the same time why there is fresh lettering on the wall in a scene and gives the story a moment in which something is happening right now.
Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-toothed saw and then level the area with abrasive paper under water, so that it does not raise dust. Watch the outstretched forearm, which tends to be the thinnest and breaks off most easily. Stand the figure dry against the wall it is to write on first, and only then fix the angle of the arm; a mismatch between the direction of the spray and the lettering is a mistake everyone notices.
The casting is without paint and without a base, and all the material for finishing it is bought separately.
