The set represents a street fruit stall, that is a piece of setting that will give your scene in 1:35 scale life and a story. MiniArt has long worked on accessories of this kind and its sets are among the most frequently used building blocks of urban dioramas.
Selling fruit on the street was part of the character of European cities through practically the whole 20th century, so the set finds a use across a broad range of subjects, from a civilian interwar side street through wartime scenes with vehicles and figures to a postwar everyday. Colorful fruit is also a rewarding contrasting element: on a diorama full of gray and earthy tones it draws the viewer's eye at once and creates a natural visual center for the scene.
Paint the wooden parts of the stall in a base wood shade, then run a dark wash into the seams and pick out the edges with a dry brush, and the texture will come out. Paint the fruit in saturated tones and go over them with gloss clear, which gives them a juicy look. Even the whole thing out at the end with fine dusting from pigments to suit the setting of the scene.
