About product

StuG III Ausf.G, February 1943, Alkett (1:35, MiniArt)

An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Sturmgeschütz III Ausf.G assault gun in 1:35 scale from the maker MiniArt. The model corresponds to the production series of the Alkett works of February 1943 and it is an edition with a full interior — it captures the internal arrangement of the fighting compartment including the gun, the ammunition and the crew stations. The box also contains photo-etched parts. Check the exact contents and the number of decal schemes against the details on the box.

The real subject

The StuG III (Sturmgeschütz III) was the most widespread German assault gun of the Second World War. It was based on the chassis of the Panzer III tank and instead of a rotating turret it carried a 75 mm gun with limited traverse in a low armored superstructure. The Ausf.G version of the years from 1942 to 1945 was the most numerous and was fielded both for the direct support of infantry and, more and more, against enemy tanks. Vehicles of early Alkett production had a number of characteristic design details corresponding to the given period.

Building and painting tips

Because of the full interior, proceed to a plan — paint the inside of the fighting compartment, pick it out and give it a wash while the hull is still open. Finish the running gear and the tracks separately. An airbrush suits period German camouflage; emphasize the panel lines and the rivets with a wash and apply mud and dust pigments to the lower hull and the running gear. Part of the interior can be shown to advantage through open hatches.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of German armored equipment of the Second World War
  • More experienced modelers who will appreciate a full interior
  • Anyone interested in StuG III assault guns and the Panzer III chassis
  • Builders of dioramas from the Eastern and the Western Front

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
