The T-34/85 is a late development stage of the Soviet T-34 medium tank. It differs from the earlier configurations in its larger three-man turret with an 85 mm gun, which improved both the division of work for the crew and its firepower. It was built in large numbers from 1944 and after the war it became one of the most widespread tanks in the world: it served for decades in many armies, including those of the Middle East. Machines operated outside their original country of manufacture usually carried partial changes to their equipment, fittings and finish that matched local conditions and climate.
With a tank it pays to work from the running gear up: finish and, if need be, paint the wheels, the suspension and the tracks before you close up the hull, because afterwards you will not reach them with a brush. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic, which wicks into the joint by capillary action. Apply a primer before painting, which will at the same time reveal any imperfect joints. Spray the camouflage with an airbrush in thin coats and rather lighten the shades slightly in the middle of the surfaces, so that a large model does not look flat. Build the weathering gradually: a dark wash into the recesses, then dry brushing on the edges and finally pigments for dust and mud on the lower part of the hull and on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
