The T-55 is among the most widespread tanks in history. It was created as the next step after the T-54, carries a 100 mm gun and is recognizable by its low silhouette and rounded cast turret, which takes room away from the crew but is harder for an enemy to hit on the battlefield. The machine was built and produced under license in enormous numbers and served with dozens of armies all over the world, in many places long after newer types had replaced it at home. That is exactly why it saw a whole series of modernizations; the letters after the basic designation, as in this AMD variant, belong to later upgrades of the equipment and the protection.
The 1:35 scale is the most usual one for vehicles and leaves room for detail: the welds, the tools on the fenders, the tow cables and the small fittings on the turret are all visible. The finished model photographs well and is a rewarding subject for a diorama or for a display case where several vehicles in the same scale stand side by side.
Before you reach for the glue, free the parts of excess material and production marks and sand the mating surfaces; dry-fit the running gear beforehand. Leave the turret separate until the model has been sprayed. Bring a uniform green finish to life by shading the large areas, darkening the corners and adding a fine dust that gradually thickens on the tracks and the fenders. Paint the tow cables and the tools separately, because metal and wood next to green paint bring the whole model to life at once.
Paints, glue and filler are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
