An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet T-55 medium tank in its basic form in 1:35 scale from MiniArt. The model offers rich detail including internal equipment, photo-etched parts and individual track links. The box holds a number of build options and decals for several finishes.
The T-55 was a Soviet medium tank derived from the proven T-54, and it became one of the most widespread and longest-serving tanks in the world. It was powered by the V-55 diesel engine and its main armament was a 100 mm gun. Compared with the older T-54 it brought a number of improvements to the powerplant, the protection and the equipment. Tanks of the T-54/55 family formed the backbone of Soviet and allied armored forces for decades and spread to dozens of armies around the world.
Thanks to the internal detail it is best to assemble and paint the engine and fighting compartments before you close the hull and fit the turret. Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with thin liquid plastic cement, and use cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) for the fine photo-etched parts. Assemble the individual track links with a natural sag. Apply primer before painting, spray the green shade with an airbrush in thin coats, bring out the engraved lines with a wash and add dust and mud pigments to the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
