An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer MiniArt, capturing the BMR-1 engineer mine-clearing machine supplemented by the KMT-9 roller in the form used by the Ukrainian army. It is an articulated model: a sizeable frontal device with a frame of its own is added to the vehicle itself, so the result is markedly longer in a display case than an ordinary tank of the same scale.
The BMR-1 is an engineer machine built on the chassis of a medium tank of the T-55 line. The turret is removed and replaced by a low armored superstructure for the crew, because the task of the vehicle is not combat but creating a passage in mined terrain. The KMT-9 roller works on the principle of heavy rollers suspended in front of the vehicle: by pressure on the surface it sets off pressure-fuzed mines in strips in front of the tracks, so that a passable track is left behind the machine. The frame of the roller is removable, and during a move it is folded up or taken off, because it adds to the weight as well as the length of the vehicle.
Work from the hull and the running gear and only then fit the superstructure. Seat the wheels and the tracks on a flat board, so that the vehicle does not rock. Build the roller separately and attach it only after painting, otherwise you will have trouble reaching the parts behind it with an airbrush. The rollers are a rewarding detail: heavily worn, bare metal surfaces on the contact side and a deposit of soil between the ribs will give the model a story. Shade the rest of the machine with dust from the underside upward, so that it is apparent where the vehicle worked. Pick out the welds and the engraving with a dark wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
