The subject is the American G506 series truck with a payload of 1.5 tons and all-wheel drive in the flatbed form with a flat load bed. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the exact number of parts and the package contents are given on its packaging.
The G506 series was among the lighter American-built supply trucks of the Second World War period. The combination of a lower payload and all-wheel drive made it a universal means of transport for supply and for carrying materials off paved roads. The flatbed version has a flat load bed with side boards instead of a van body, which from a modeling point of view is an advantage — the load bed stays visible and offers room for cargo, crates or figures.
Work up from the chassis: glue the frame, the axles and the drive together on a flat surface and let them cure, so that the model stands straight on all its wheels. Finish and paint the cab and its interior before you close it up — once it is glued you will no longer get inside. Cut the parts off with nippers and level the gate remnants, and glue the joints with a thin cement for plastic. Before the decals, varnish the surfaces smooth with a gloss varnish, and once dry coat the whole model with a matte one. Build the patina up in layers: a dark wash into the pressings and shadows, a dry brush on the edges and finally dust pigments on the wheels, the fenders and the underside of the bed. With a flatbed it pays to suggest the wood of the load bed with shades of brown in fine transitions, not with one flat tone.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
