This set from the Ukrainian brand MiniArt contains injection-molded plastic parts for building a faithful model of the V-54 diesel engine, the kind that powered Soviet tanks of the T-54 family and related vehicles. The engine is rendered with a high level of detail and serves to bring an open engine bay on a tank model in 1:35 scale to life. It is not a model of a whole vehicle: it is a standalone kit of the powerplant intended to be built in or displayed.
An engine model stands out above all on dioramas and models with an open engine deck, where the powerplant is visible. It lets the modeler show what is under the hood, which is impossible with a closed hull. Thanks to the number of parts, the engine can be weathered convincingly and its individual units picked out.
Separate the parts from the sprues with nippers or a sharp knife and clean up the gates. Assemble and paint the engine before it is enclosed in the model. Pick out the metal surfaces with a dry brush and build up oil and dust traces with washes and pigments. An airbrush and a base color (primer) help to even out the ground.
This is an accessory engine kit, not a model of a whole vehicle. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
