An injection-molded plastic kit of the German reconnaissance tank prototype VK1602 Leopard in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss. The model captures an experimental tracked vehicle with markedly sloped armor that never reached series production. The package holds photo-etched parts and decals; check the exact contents and the number of parts against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Leopard was designed from 1941 onward as a new reconnaissance tank following on from the light chassis of the Pz.Kpfw.II family. Its characteristic feature was heavily sloped armor drawn from experience on the Eastern Front. The project was canceled at the beginning of 1943, before the first prototype was completed - the vehicle was too heavy and too lightly armed to stand up to enemy tanks. The turret that had been developed, with its 50 mm gun, later found use on the armored car of the Puma family.
Assemble and paint the running gear (road wheels, drive sprockets and idler wheels, tracks) before you close the hull up. Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid cement for plastic, and the fine photo-etched parts with super glue. Once the primer and the color are on, bring out the panel detail with a wash and apply mud and dust effects with pigments to the lower areas and the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
