An injection-molded plastic kit of the Chinese YW-750 tracked armored ambulance in 1:35 scale from the Bronco brand. The YW-750 is the armored ambulance version derived from the Type 63 (YW-531) family of armored personnel carriers; it shares the lower hull, the running gear and the tracks with it but has a raised hull superstructure for carrying the wounded on stretchers. The exact contents of a particular package, such as photo-etched parts and decals, are given by the instructions in the box.
The YW-750 is the export designation of the armored ambulance derived from the Chinese Type 63 armored personnel carrier, the most widespread tracked carrier of the Chinese army in the second half of the twentieth century. The raised and roomier rear hull takes lying wounded on stretchers as well as medical personnel and allows them to be evacuated from the battlefield under armored protection. The vehicle keeps the cross-country ability and the tracked running gear of the basic carrier, so it can bring the wounded out even from terrain that is hard to cross.
As with any tracked vehicle, it pays to assemble and fine-tune the running gear and the lower hull before closing it up and painting. The inside of the ambulance compartment is worth attention: if you want to show it open, paint the interior before the hull is closed. Bring single-color green finishes to life by shading the panels, and apply a gloss varnish under the decals. Build the final weathering with dark washes into the recesses and with dust and mud pigments on the running gear and the lower parts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
