A set of cut masks for the national insignia and lettering of the Czechoslovak twin-engine Aero C-3B in 1:48 scale. The film conforms to the rounded nose and to the engine nacelles.
Responsibility details are not available.
The twin-engine Aero C-3 grew out of the German Siebel Si 204, whose production had been started up in Czechoslovak plants during the war. After the liberation the aircraft kept coming off the lines and served as a transport, liaison and above all training machine for crews converting to multi-engine types. The C-3B was one of the widespread versions and newer designs replaced it in the 1960s.
The mask set covers the national insignia and the lettering of this machine. The individual pieces are cut from thin self-adhesive film that can be laid on the curved nose, the engine cowlings or the fuselage side without creasing.
What decides the result is a thin coat of paint and good adhesion of the edge of the film. Press the piece down with a blunt tool, start with the lighter covering color and spray straight down from above so that the stream does not get under the edge. Remove the mask while the paint is still tacky, not after it has fully cured. The finished insignia sits flush with the surrounding coat and does not stand out anywhere.
The kit and the paints are not included. For Czechoslovak machines, Czech aviation literature is a useful source, because it often records how the lettering was placed in individual units. Degrease the surface before laying the film down, so that the edge adheres along its whole length.
