This is an accessory set of figures and equipment, not an aircraft model. The package includes six plastic figures of Finnish and Soviet pilots in 1:48 scale, along with a set of accessories for an airfield scene. The set is designed to bring a finished aircraft model into a story — whether for a display-case vignette or a full diorama.
The figures reference the Finnish-Soviet fighting of the turn of the 1930s and 1940s, meaning the Winter War and Continuation War period. Pilots from both sides are depicted in period flight suits and gear; the contrast of two opposing sides in a single set gives rise to several possible scenes, from pre-takeoff preparation to a scene at a captured airfield. The included accessories — among others fuel drums, a ladder, and workshop equipment — let you build a believable field-base setting around the aircraft.
Glue the figures with thin plastic cement; in 1:48 scale, carefully cleaning up the seam lines on faces and hands is essential, since any leftover flash will stand out once painted. Use a primer — without it, paint easily chips off smooth plastic. For faces, a base skin tone, a darker brown wash into the eye sockets and folds, and light dry-brushing on the forehead, nose, and cheekbones work well. Bring flight suits and furs to life with a thinned dark wash into the folds; fur collars stand out with dry-brushing in a lighter tone. For the accessories (drums, tools, ladder), take the opposite approach from the figures — leave them worn, with rust, scuffs, and dust, so they contrast with the cleaner characters. Unify the skin tones across the whole set at once, not figure by figure.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
