A plastic kit of the German King Tiger heavy tank in the version with the so-called Porsche turret, in 1:48 scale. What sets the model apart is the fully detailed interior — the engine compartment, the fighting compartment and the inside of the turret — so it can be built with the hatches open and the innards exposed. Besides the plastic parts, the box holds photo-etched parts and material for the surface texture of zimmerit.
The King Tiger (Tiger II) was the heaviest German tank to see series service in the Second World War. The first vehicles built carried a turret with a characteristically rounded front, associated with the Porsche name. Heavy armor and the long 88 mm gun made it a feared opponent, though at the cost of high weight and fuel consumption.
Assemble and paint the interior first and only then close up the hull and the turret. Glue the plastic with thinned cement and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Use a primer before painting. Bring out the inner spaces with washes and drybrushing and finish the outer surface with pigments for dust and mud. Open hatches show the interior to best effect.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
