An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet heavy tank KV-2 in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. The model captures the unmistakable machine with its tall angular turret carrying a 152 mm howitzer. The kit offers precise molding in gray plastic, photo-etched parts and link-and-length tracks with a realistic sag.
The KV-2 came about as a heavily armed version of the KV-1 tank, into whose tall turret a 152 mm howitzer was installed, meant to destroy fortifications and hard targets. The combination of the massive turret and heavy armor made it an impressive if cumbersome machine, committed in the opening phase of the fighting on the Eastern Front. It is precisely the huge turret that makes the KV-2 one of the most characteristic Soviet tanks.
Assemble the running gear and the link-and-length tracks before you close up the hull. Use thin cement on the plastic. Lay down a primer, spray the paints with an airbrush and bring the Soviet green to life with dark washes into the detail and with pigments for dust and mud on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
