An injection-molded plastic kit of the Chinese nuclear attack submarine Type 093 Shang (SSN) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) in the small ship scale of 1:700 from Hobby Boss. It is a small, undemanding model with few parts, suitable as an addition to a larger naval scene as well. The model is unassembled, for gluing and painting; the package holds plastic parts, instructions and decals and allows the full hull to be built on a stand.
The Type 093 Shang is a class of nuclear attack submarines (SSN) of the PLA Navy. It entered service in the first decade of the 21st century and is replacing older submarines of the previous generation. It is armed with torpedoes and anti-ship missiles and serves for attack and reconnaissance duties beneath the surface. Thanks to nuclear propulsion it has great operational endurance and reach.
The hull of the submarine is made up mostly of smooth, rounded surfaces, so sand and fill the joint of the two hull halves carefully, so that the parting line does not show. Apply a primer before painting; the single dark color of the hull is best sprayed with an airbrush for an even surface. You can build the model as the full hull on the stand supplied or set it into the water surface (waterline) in a diorama. A discreet pick-out of the panel lines with a fine wash brings it to life.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
