Responsibility details are not available.
A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale from HäT. The box holds thirty-two figures in eight poses on four sprues. The figures are molded in one piece and come unpainted. The Mahdist warriors are an opponent for the British colonial units from the same maker and, together with the camel troops, they form the basis of a Sudanese force.
The Mahdist revolt in Sudan broke out in 1881 and its army managed to defeat Egyptian and British detachments alike. The warriors attacked in dense formations, relied on spear, sword and a swift rush, and their determination repeatedly broke a closed square. Only at Omdurman in 1898 did machine guns and quick-firing artillery show that the era of such a way of fighting was over.
Wash the figures, dry them and spray them with a flexible primer. The typical Mahdist tunic was white with colored patches, which were not merely a practical repair but also a mark of allegiance. So use deeper rectangular patches, and the formation gains variety without any pattern painting. Glue the spears and swords on last. A base with sand will place the scene at once.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
