The plastic kit de Havilland DH.100 Vampire FB.Mk.9 Tropicalised Fighter-Bomber (1:72) — the British fighter-bomber in the tropicalized version with air conditioning.
Responsibility details are not available.
This kit in 1:72 scale presents the British jet fighter-bomber de Havilland Vampire in the FB.Mk.9 version — the tropicalized configuration intended for service in a hot climate. It is an injection-molded plastic kit; the model is supplied unassembled and unpainted and offers several marking options.
The de Havilland Vampire was one of the first British jet fighters and in Royal Air Force service it followed on from the very first generation of jet aircraft. The FB.9 version was the tropicalized counterpart of the FB.5 fighter-bomber: for service in a hot climate it received an air conditioning unit housed in the enlarged root of the starboard air intake. The machine was adapted for attacks on ground targets and carried underwing racks for weapons. The Vampire was famous for its characteristic twin-boom tail and was widespread with a number of foreign air forces.
In 1:72 scale take care over the clean fit of the twin-boom tail section and the exact seating of the canopy. A thin cement for plastic, a primer and an airbrush in thin coats all prove themselves. Consider the order of the build so that the transitions of the fuselage and the booms can be masked well; finish the underwing weapons and racks according to the marking option you choose.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
