Masks for spraying the walkway strips on the wings of the A-20G Havoc and the P-70 night fighter, for the MPM and Special Hobby kits in 1:72.
Responsibility details are not available.
The twin-engined Douglas A-20 was among the most widespread Allied attack aircraft of the Second World War. The A-20G version received a solid nose with gun armament in place of the glazed one and became the most numerous production variant. From the airframe of the same machine came the P-70 as well, a stopgap night fighter with radar and a ventral cannon pack, which helped in the Pacific until the specialized types arrived.
On the wing roots of these aircraft dark non-slip strips were painted, the ones walked on during servicing. Their boundaries were sharp and straight, and that is exactly what tape does badly, because the outline follows both the leading and the trailing edge. Die-cut pieces hold the outline precisely and the result looks like real paint rather than a strip stuck on.
Finish the base camouflage first and let it harden. Lay the mask on a dry surface, press the edges down and apply the dark shade thinly in two passes. Take it off the same day. Finally unify the whole surface with varnish so that the transition between the coats cannot be felt.
The strips on the wings are among the details a practiced eye spots at once. A missing or crooked outline gives away haste as surely as an unfinished fuselage seam, while an exact boundary lends even a simply built model a mature look.
The package contains only the masking material, with no model and no paints.
