An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy reconnaissance armored car in 1:72 scale by Italeri. The model captures the six-wheeled 6-Rad version with its characteristic frame antenna over the hull. It is a smaller kit with a reasonable number of parts; take the exact contents and markings from the instructions in the box.
The Sd.Kfz.232 6-Rad was a German reconnaissance armored car of the early 1930s built on a three-axle truck chassis. It carried a 2 cm autocannon and a machine gun and, in the early stages of the Second World War, served for long-range reconnaissance. The conspicuous frame above the vehicle carried the antenna of a powerful radio set. It was later replaced in service by more modern four- and eight-wheeled cars, yet it remains a characteristic vehicle of the opening period of the war.
Use thin cement for plastic and, at this small scale, work with a sharp knife and tweezers. Assemble the wheels and the fine parts of the frame antenna carefully so that they sit straight; the antenna frame is made of thin parts, so it is best added with super glue only once the hull is painted. Lay down a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush; a small vehicle comes to life with the detail brought up by washes and light dust pigments on the chassis.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
