It is a short-run injection-molded kit of the naval version of the famous Spitfire, powered by the potent Griffon engine. The model will be appreciated by admirers of British aviation and of the carrier machines of the Fleet Air Arm.
The Seafire was the naval (carrier) derivative of the Supermarine Spitfire fighter, adapted for operation from aircraft carriers. The Mk.45 version was among the variants powered by the mighty Rolls-Royce Griffon twelve-cylinder, which brought a marked increase in power and a larger propeller compared with the older machines with the Merlin engine. The Griffon Seafires were distinguished by their more powerful engine and the corresponding changes to the airframe and the nose section. The type served with naval aviation at the close of and after the Second World War.
Short-run injection-molded kits call for careful clean-up and dry-fitting of the parts before gluing. In 1:72 scale mind the thin trailing edges and a clean transition at the canopy. Use liquid cement on the plastic, unify the surface with a primer and lay the paint down with an airbrush; the panel lines are accentuated with a light wash and the whole is unified with a matte or semi-gloss clear coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
