Figures of the crew of an American Gato class submarine in 1:72 scale, on the subject of the deck gun crew in action.
Responsibility details are not available.
Figures of the crew of an American Gato class submarine in 1:72 scale. The subject is the deck gun crew at work, that is figures in motion at the weapon rather than a standing lookout. The number of figures is stated by the manufacturer on the packaging.
The deck gun is the one place on a submarine model where action can be shown. The hull is smooth and without figures it reads as a model with no story; a group at the gun, by contrast, gives away at once what is happening in the scene and at the same time gives the viewer the scale from which they finally grasp how big the submarine is. The set therefore also suits a diorama with a section of water surface or with the side of the vessel.
Cut the excess material and production marks away with a sharp blade a short distance from the figure and sand the remainder gently. Wash and degrease them before painting. Choose the glue according to the material: on parts that are not polystyrene, ordinary modeling cement does not hold and cyanoacrylate is needed. Try the arrangement dry before gluing, as with a gun crew it is decisive that the hands and the eyes all point at the same spot. Paint with thinly diluted paint in several coats; a dark glaze deepens the folds and a lighter tone drawn on dry pulls out the shoulders and hands.
For builders of submarine models in 1:72 scale and for makers of naval dioramas who want a scene with action instead of a static display case.
The submarine model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
