Issue 10 of the Aces High modeling magazine, devoted to the theme of the Eastern Front. A printed publication, a single issue of the series.
Responsibility details are not available.
Aces High comes out as a series of individual themed issues. This is issue 10 and its theme is the Eastern Front, that is the fighting between Germany and the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1945. A themed issue differs from an ordinary magazine in that its content keeps to one line, so you come back to it more as a source than as news.
Over four years the vehicles there went through everything the weather can do: mud in spring and autumn, dust in summer and hard frosts in winter. Hand in hand with that goes a variety of surfaces you will not find anywhere else. Improvised winter overcoats washed off and flaked away, field finishes rubbed through, markings were repainted on the march. For a modeler that means a freedom which a closed regulation scheme does not give, and at the same time a reason to look up the background of the theme.
The proven approach is to read it before you start building. You use it to decide which version and which period you will build, and above all not to overdo the weathering: a machine after a week in the field looks different from one after a year. Then, for the build, lay the kit instructions and the magazine side by side.
For modelers who gather inspiration on the Eastern Front and want to understand the theme before they reach for the airbrush, and for those who are filling out the series issue by issue. Check the mix of articles and the language of the edition in the contents of the particular issue, as in themed series both differ from one piece to another.
This is a printed publication. No modeling goods are packed with it, unless stated otherwise.
