An acrylic filter in a sand shade for weathering models. It evens out the paintwork and shifts its tone gently toward a warm, dusty register.
Responsibility details are not available.
A filter is a heavily thinned paint applied over the finished paintwork of a whole area. It does not work as a glaze running into the recesses, the way a wash does, but lays a wafer-thin veil of color over the surface. That achieves three things at once: it evens out areas sprayed in slightly different shades, it takes the edge off the freshness of new paint and it gives a large area depth, because the original tone shows through the veil unevenly. On a model you notice it because the surface stops reading as a single area from one spray can.
The sand shade pulls the paintwork toward a warm, dusty register. It comes into its own on vehicles from desert and dry environments, on vehicles with a light finish and anywhere a deposit of fine dust should show. It also works well as an intermediate step before applying pigments, because it tunes the base in advance into the same color family.
Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as the solids settle. Apply the filter to thoroughly dried paintwork, ideally over a smooth coat of clear. Work with a soft flat brush over small areas and draw the strokes in one direction. Let it dry and only then judge the effect: one coat should be barely noticeable, and you build the strength up by repeating it. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the package.
The filter is supplied. The model, brushes, thinner and clear coat are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
