An acrylic wash in a dust shade for picking out engraving and for laying down settled dust. Intended for weathering model surfaces.
Responsibility details are not available.
A wash is a thin paint that, once applied, flows into recesses and engraving on its own and stays there even after the excess is wiped off the surrounding areas. The model gains depth from it: panel seams, rivets, the edges of hatches and the folds of equipment are visually separated from smooth areas. The shade of this version matches dry dust, so it suits vehicles and buildings from a dry environment, underbodies, lower sections and places where dust naturally settles.
A wash flows better over a smooth and glossy surface, so a model is usually overcoated with gloss varnish before it is used. Stir the contents of the bottle before work, because the pigment settles. Apply it with a brush into the seams or spot by spot where the dust should stay, and let the material become tacky for a moment. Then wipe the excess off with a brush lightly moistened in the thinner the manufacturer specifies for this line, and run the strokes from top to bottom, that is, in the direction dust runs down a real surface.
Build the effect up in layers; one light layer can be repeated at any time, whereas overdone dusting is hard to remove. On large smooth areas work more sparingly than in corners and around projections. Fix the finished result with matte varnish, which evens out the gloss and protects the deposit from being rubbed off during handling.
Brushes, varnishes and thinner are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
