AFV Fantasy Color Sick Green

AFV Fantasy Color Sick Green — a spray paint by Vallejo

An aerosol modeling paint by the Spanish brand Vallejo, listed under the shade name Sick Green. It is a ready spray for spraying straight from the can, not a bottled paint. How well the resulting coat holds and how it looks is decided to a large extent by the surface — a spray on its own will not save a greasy or rough surface. Compare the exact tone of the shade against the manufacturer's color chart.

Use

• Wash the parts first in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry completely. Mold release residue from casting and grease from your fingers are the most common cause of peeling.
• On resin, 3D prints and metal, apply the paint only over a primer. On bare material the spray holds considerably less well than on plastic.
• The surface should be smooth. A sprayed coat will not hide sanding marks; it tends to emphasize them.
• Always make a test on an offcut or on a hidden area. You check the adhesion, the tone and the behavior on the particular material before you touch the finished model.
• Apply in thin coats; a heavy coat from a spray drowns engraving and fine detail.
• Sweep the dust off the surface before spraying — with compressed air or a soft brush, not with a cloth that will leave fibers.

Who it is for

Suitable for modelers who need a quick base coat on larger areas and have surface preparation under control. Anyone building mainly in resin or 3D prints should expect a primer as a separate step.

The can is pressurized and flammable. Work in a ventilated area or outdoors, away from open flame, with respiratory protection. Do not expose it to temperatures above 50 °C and do not pierce it even when empty. Do not thin the spray line with thinners intended for bottled paints.
