The transparent black shade Black Oxide Transparent for tinting and shading finished surfaces. It does not cover, so the base under it stays legible and only its tone changes.
Responsibility details are not available.
Black Oxide Transparent is a transparent black shade meant for tinting and shading surfaces that are already finished. Because it does not cover, the base under it stays visible and only its tone changes. It suits anywhere an area is meant to darken without losing the texture or the transitions you have worked so hard to build underneath.
A typical use is darkening metal surfaces where discoloration from heat or from use is meant to show: exhausts, gun barrels, the edges of panels, joints and pins. It serves equally well to deepen shadows in corners and to stop a freshly sprayed surface reading as flat and uninteresting.
Stir the contents thoroughly before use, because transparent shades settle. Apply it in thin coats and control the depth by their number, not by the amount of material in one coat; every further coat darkens the result and there is no going back without respraying. Try the shade first on a piece of plastic treated the same way as the model, because the result depends on what is underneath. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging for the thinner, the thinning ratio and the cleaning of tools.
The shade is supplied on its own. Thinner, brushes and other products are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
