About product

Vallejo Chipping Medium 35 ml

Chipping Medium is a water-based auxiliary acrylic medium in a 35 ml bottle, intended for the paint chipping technique. It is applied as an interlayer between the base coat and the top coat; once re-wetted with water it lets you chip the top coat away in a controlled way and reveal the layer beneath. It is not a paint or a varnish but a technical aid for realistic wear.

Use

  • Apply a thin layer of the medium over a dry base coat (for example a primer imitating rust or bare metal).
  • Once the medium has dried, spray the top color over it.
  • Wet the area with water and create chips and scratches with a brush, a toothpick or a wooden stick.
  • Ideal for imitating paint wear on vehicles, military hardware and aircraft.

Who it is for

For modelers interested in realistic weathering and controlled wear of the finish. It works best in combination with acrylic paints.

Water-based. Keep out of the reach of children and ventilate while working.
