CM-01 Marker Gold

The color

Gold is the most conspicuous of the metallic colors and on a model it is handled differently from steel. It rarely covers large areas, but it reliably draws the eye to what is meant to stand out: to trim, decorative bands, emblems and the small parts that are meant to look like brass. The marker is listed under the designation CM-01.

Where you will use it

On the decorative features of fantasy and historical figures, on instrument bezels, on brass taps and fittings, on the trim strips and monograms of vehicles and for emphasizing the edges of robots and science fiction machinery. The saturation of gold depends strongly on what is underneath it: on a dark base it comes out deeper and in a warmer tone, on a light one it looks lighter and paler. It therefore pays to start at a less conspicuous place and to go on only according to the result.

How to apply the marker

• Before first use press the tip down several times on waste paper, until the paint starts to wick up.
• The metallic particles settle in the refill, so shake the marker between strokes.
• Work over small areas and lead the individual strokes in the same direction, so that the sheen is not broken up.
• Let a coat dry before you correct it or go over it.
• Try the compatibility with varnish on an offcut, as varnish can dissolve a metallic layer.
• Push the tip in after the work and close the marker, otherwise it will dry out.
