The set brings a 3D printed wheeled OU-80 fire extinguisher in 1:32 scale from Temp Models. It is not a model of an aircraft, nor a part of one, but a separate piece of airfield equipment for a diorama. The extinguisher on a two-wheeled chassis belongs to the equipment that stands beside every aircraft on the apron during engine starts and refueling.
The OU-80 is a wheeled fire extinguisher with carbon dioxide, that is a snow extinguisher as it is known. It works on the principle of a permanently pressurized vessel: once the valve is opened, the liquefied gas passes through a hose into the horn, expands sharply and cools the burning surface. That is exactly why it is favored at airfields for fires of equipment and electrical installations, where neither water nor foam would be suitable. On a model you will know it by the pair of tall cylinders on a wheeled frame and by the coiled hose.
The parts are printed from resin and are held only by thin supports. Cut them off with a sharp scalpel as close to the part as possible, sand the marks down with fine sandpaper and protect your airways while sanding. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint holds longer on a smooth print if you lay a thin coat of primer under it. Ground equipment is brought to life by a dark wash run into the recesses and by drybrushing on the edges.
The set is an addition to building a model, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
