The OU-80 fire extinguisher 1:48 is a 3D printed resin model of a large wheeled OU-80 fire extinguisher in 1:48 scale as an accessory for an airfield diorama.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains a 3D printed resin model of the wheeled OU-80 fire extinguisher in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft, nor a part of one, but a piece of airfield equipment that in a diorama stands by the apron or by a hangar. The print holds the shape of the pressure vessel, the chassis and the hose with its horn.
The fire extinguisher designated OU-80 is a large wheeled form of Soviet manufacture, used in operations with equipment and fuel, and therefore at air bases as well. Because of its weight it stands on a chassis of its own with wheels and is operated by a hose with a horn. In photographs of Soviet and Russian aprons it is to be found by parked aircraft and by fuel trucks. In a diorama it adds credibility to a scene and tells of the safety precautions.
First wash the 3D printed parts in warm water with a little dish soap, so that they are rid of the residue of printing resin. Cut the supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and sand the marks down with your airways protected. Resin does not bond with cement for polystyrene, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Lay a thin coat of primer on before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly on a smooth print. Equipment beside an aircraft comes out best with weathering: a dark wash into the gaps, dust with dry pigment and scuffed spots suggested with a metallic shade.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
