About product

Panel Line Accent Pour Type in black (Gunze / Mr.Hobby)

A liquid paint for emphasizing engraved panel lines, seams, grooves and rivets. Its consistency is so thin that once the brush touches the groove the paint runs along by capillary action for the whole length of the line: there is no laborious painting, the paint flows down the groove on its own. Once dry, the excess is wiped off with a cloth or a cotton swab moistened with thinner; the paint stays in the groove and disappears from the smooth surface. The result is that the lines stand out and the model gains depth and a sense of scale. Without this step a model looks flat, like a toy; with it, like a real machine. Black gives the strongest contrast.

Use

  • Ideal on dark and saturated colors: tanks, modern aircraft, robots and sci-fi subjects.
  • On light surfaces black can be too harsh; there, reach for the gray or brown variant.
  • It works best on a smooth gloss or semi-gloss coat, where the paint flows cleanly and wipes off easily.
  • On a matte surface it also creeps into the pores and stains the area, and that cannot be wiped away.
  • Recommended sequence: gloss coat, then panel lines, then matte coat to unify the surface.

Who it is for

For modelers of robots, aircraft, vehicles and sci-fi subjects who want to bring out engraved detail quickly and without laborious painting. Three shades are made, black, gray and brown, and you choose according to the color and type of the model.

It contains solvent: use it in a well-ventilated space, out of the reach of children and away from open flame. Test it in a hidden spot before use, and wipe off the excess with the matching thinner.

FAQ

No. You touch the brush to the groove and the thin paint runs along the whole groove by capillary action. Then you simply wipe the excess off the surface.

Best on a smooth gloss or semi-gloss coat. On a matte surface it creeps into the pores and stains the area. Recommended sequence: gloss coat, panel lines, matte coat.

Black gives the strongest contrast for dark models, tanks and robots. Gray is subtler (light aircraft, ships) and brown reads as warm grime (military vehicles, rust).
