Gravel for unpaved roads in a buff tone, the coarser grade. It holds 176 cm3 of gravel and 29.4 cm3 of accompanying powder.
Responsibility details are not available.
The grain of this mix is derived from the real size of gravel on an unpaved road, and that is why the result does not read as scatter material but as a road. The buff tone matches stone from a local quarry, of the kind used on field and forest routes and on the approaches to farmsteads.
Besides the gravel itself there is an accompanying fine powder. That belongs on the edges, in the wheel ruts and on the areas where the surface is worn down to the base. It is precisely the alternation of the coarse and the fine grade that turns a flat strip into a road somebody drives along.
According to the manufacturer the contents are enough for a road 4.26 meters long and 5.08 centimeters wide. The volume of the gravel is 176 cm3, of the powder 29.4 cm3. It is laid on a coated base and fixed with thinned glue, and a pass with a wheel or the edge of a ruler creates the marks of traffic.
An unpaved road does not wear evenly. In the two wheel tracks the surface is worn and darker, between them stays a ridge on which grass survives, and at the sides the material pushed out of the driving line piles up. Water stands in the hollows after rain and a lighter edge dries around it. Anyone who works this pattern into a road ends up with a route somebody really does drive along.
