The pliable backing follows the shape of the surface being sanded, so the paper does not create sharp edges or flats on rounded parts. It serves to restock a set in which the individual grits are gradually used up. The dimensions of the sheets and their number in the pack are given on the packaging.
For modelers who are finishing a surface under gloss varnish, and for anyone who has already bought the very fine abrasive set from this brand and needs to restock a used-up grit. A 1200 grit no longer removes material, it only levels the surface, so it is used in the final stages. The best results come from sanding with water and light pressure, when the paper does not clog and the surface stays even.
Sanding dry creates a fine dust — work in a ventilated space and wear a respirator, especially with resin parts. Sanding with water is gentler in this respect.
