A complete set for painting aircraft with a bare metal finish: twenty-two items from black primer through metallics to washes, varnishes and brushes.
Responsibility details are not available.
This complete package tackles the most difficult finish an aircraft modeler will meet. An unpainted duralumin skin is not a uniform silver surface: every panel has a different shade, polishes differently and reflects differently, near the exhausts it shifts toward blue-violet, and above the wing it is dirtied by fuel and oil. The set brings together twenty-two items that can create that variability in an order that makes sense.
The base is a black primer in a spray can, formulated to dry glass-smooth, because metallic paint copies every unevenness beneath it. Onto that come lacquer metallics for the overall cast of the skin and a gloss protective coat, and with them acrylic shades of steel, aluminum, polished metal, silver and burnt iron for the different panels and the exhaust pipes. The dirt is handled by two liquid shades for streaks, two fine panel line washes for the panel seams, and oil sticks with metallic pigment that can be used to lighten the surface as well as to tone it down. A thinner, a drying retarder and three synthetic brushes of different shapes are not missing either.
First a perfectly smooth black base, then metallic paint in thin coats and masking of the individual panels so that they differ. Next comes the gloss coat, after it the panel line wash in the seams and the streaks from the filler caps. The oil sticks are rubbed out almost dry and serve for the final lift. A matte coat is usually left out on a metal aircraft, because it would knock down the shine the whole job was done for.
