The set is aimed at the modeler who wants the figure finished before the airbrush has even warmed up. The paint is sealed inside the pen, so the palette, the thinning and the brush cleaning all fall away: take off the cap, work the tip until it flows and paint straight onto plastic or resin. Inside the box is a set of five tones chosen to work together: black as an undercoat and shadow, a leather shade and an orange brown for straps, belts and boots, a skin tone for the face and hands and, finally, bone brown, which puts the highlights on the raised areas.
It saves the most work on small areas where a brush is hard to control: eyes, buckles, grips, the stitching on a coat. It also works well as a quick layer under shades applied with a brush, because the tip leaves a thin, even mark with no brush strokes. The shades can be blended into each other by running one over an area that is still wet, so the transition between light and shadow can be created directly on the model.
The surface needs to be degreased and ideally primed; on bare glossy plastic the paint adheres less well. Shake the pen briefly before first use and work it on paper so that the tip saturates. Close it immediately after work: a dried-out tip is the most common reason a marker stops writing.
