A marker pen removes the most tiresome part of painting small figures: the preparation. There is no palette, no water and no brush to wash, the paint goes on directly and dries within moments. This set is put together for science fiction infantry of an imperial cast and contains five pieces, namely Black, then Wolf Blue Grey, Power Blue, Infernal Red and finally Space Yellow.
The combination is not accidental. Wolf Blue Grey and Black carry the base of the armor and the dark areas, Power Blue forms a cool complement, while Infernal Red and Space Yellow cover unit insignia, decorative stripes and warning elements. Five tones are thus enough for a complete unit without the user having to reach for further paints.
Before first use the tip is started on a piece of paper until the paint flows evenly. On the model you work in short strokes and layer only once the previous coat has dried, otherwise the tip will smear the paint underneath. On edges and rivets a marker pen can also be used for quick accenting, because it follows the relief exactly. The set is one of ten faction variants in the same line.
For beginners this form of paint is by far the easiest way into painting miniatures, because the most common source of failure, a badly thinned coat, falls away. More experienced builders in turn use them to cover numerous groups of figures quickly, where the classic approach would take a disproportionate amount of time. The cap has to be pressed firmly back after work, otherwise the tip dries out.
