Tamiya Mark Fit – a decal softener

A modeling decal softener from Tamiya of standard (basic) strength. The product temporarily softens a water-slide decal so that it adheres better to the surface of a model, gets rid of air bubbles and follows the shape of the part as well as the panel lines and rivets faithfully. Once dry, the decal looks more like painted markings than a stuck-on piece of paper. The pack contains 40 ml and it is applied with the enclosed brush. It is an accessory, not a paint.

Use

• Apply a thin coat of the product with the brush onto the place where the decal will go.
• Lay the decal on, straighten it gently and use a soft cloth or a cotton swab to press the air and the excess liquid out from the center toward the edges.
• Let it dry and do not move the decal while it dries – a softened decal is fragile and easily damaged.
• On deeper panel lines a second coat can be applied so that the decal sinks into the engraving.
• It works best over a smooth gloss varnish; a matte surface is worth varnishing with a gloss coat before the decal.
