A fine metal chain for building models and dioramas, offered in the variant designated by the letter D. The chain is sold in several link sizes that differ from one another by exactly this letter; the link size and the length in the package are given on the packaging and in the manufacturer's data, so check them before use and choose according to the scale you build in.
Its uses are wide. On military vehicles it stands in for tow and auxiliary chains, loops and cargo lashings, on ships for anchor chain and railings, and in a diorama for hinges, chains on gates or workshop equipment. Compared with a plastic part it has two advantages: it sags by itself and, once painted, it holds the shape you gave it.
Cut the chain with nippers; paper scissors will be ruined on it. Secure the ends with a drop of super glue, or thread them through a link and bend them over. Degrease the chain before painting, otherwise paint will not hold on the smooth surface; a thin primer from a spray can helps. A dark base with a light dry brush over it looks natural, complemented by a hint of rust in the places where link does not rub on link. Let the sag arise from the weight of the chain itself and only then glue the ends.
For builders of dioramas, military vehicles and ships for whom a plastic imitation of a chain is not enough. The work is easy and calls for no special tools beyond nippers and tweezers.
