New Rust

Vallejo Pigment New Rust

This is a dry weathering pigment, that is a fine colored powder, not a liquid paint. Fresh rust has a brighter orange tone that renders recently formed corrosion, chips and exposed metal. The pigment is micronized and free of binder, so it disperses easily in water, acrylic medium and turpentine.

Use

• Applied dry with a soft brush onto chips, edges and freshly damaged spots.
• Fixed with a pigment fixer, thinner or matte varnish.
• Combined with the basic and the old rust for a transition from fresh to aged corrosion.
• Mixed into a medium it works as a bright rust streak.

Who it is for

For modelers who distinguish fresh from old rust on vehicles, ships and dioramas. It is used in the final stage of weathering.

This is a fine powder. Do not breathe it in, work out of drafts, ideally with a respirator, and keep out of the reach of children.
