Old Rust

Vallejo Pigment Old Rust

This is a dry weathering pigment, that is a fine colored powder, not a liquid paint. Old rust has a darker brown-red tone that renders aged, deeply set corrosion and metal that has been rusting for a long time. The pigment is micronized and free of binder, so it disperses easily in water, acrylic medium and turpentine.

Use

• Applied dry with a soft brush into deeper corroded areas and rust shadows.
• Fixed with a pigment fixer, thinner or matte varnish.
• Layered with the fresh and the basic rust for faithful transitions in the age of the corrosion.
• Mixed into a medium it works as a dark rust wash.

Who it is for

For modelers who render old, settled corrosion on vehicles, ships and dioramas. It is used in the final stage of weathering.

This is a fine powder. Do not breathe it in, work out of drafts, ideally with a respirator, and keep out of the reach of children.
